This issue, marking the centenary of the International Co-operative Alliance and its special Congress in Manchester in September 1995, is devoted to the present and future of the Alliance. After the comprehensive survey by the Director-General, there follow, from contributors with experience of service within the Alliance or in the UK co-operative movement, more specialised perspectives on particular aspects of ICA’s role and organisation. And occasionally where space invites, or allows, short quotations from ‘international’ sources in earlier Journals are reprinted.
